Steel flat wire
Among the manufacturers of flat wires, BRUKER-SPALECK is the specialist for solutions tailored to customer requirements. Our customers trust our flexibility and innovative strength – and have done for over 30 years now. Our special flat wires are used everywhere where the highest levels of precision are essential, for example in the automotive, spring, medical, cable and textile industries.
Our core competencies include: Transformation of round wires into flat wires and profiles by drawing and rolling, Annealing and tempering, Coatings, Precision coiling
We design our flat wires to meet the individual requirements of our customers.

Production of flat wires made of steel grades C, SiCr, CrV, similar to EN 10270-1 and 2
Our core competencies include
- Transformation of round wires into flat wires and profiles by drawing and rolling
- Annealing and tempering
- Precision coiling
We design our flat wires to meet the individual requirements of our customers.
To understand your needs, we need to know your requirements.
Our performance profile in the area of flat wires made of carbon steels can best be described as follows:
Grades
- Quality steels with a carbon content of 0.45% to 1.00%, for example in SM, DM, DH or FD grades
- Chromium-silicon steels
- Chromium-vanadium steels
- Special materials on customer request
Designs
- Cold rolled to your individual requirements or based on DIN EN 10270-1. In this process, the cross-section of the flat wire profile is converted into the cross-section of a round wire to enable application of the round wire standard.
- Hardened + annealed to your individual requirements or based on DIN EN 10270-2. In this process, the cross-section of the flat wire profile is converted into the cross-section of a round wire to enable application of the round wire standard.
- Annealed to your requirements
- Finish annealed to your requirements
Dimensions
- Thicknesses: 0,080 – 2,000 mm / 0,0031 – 0,0787 inch
for rectangular or square up to 3,500 mm / 0,1377 inch - Width: 0,500 – 7,000 mm / 0,0196 – 0,2755 inch
Tolerances
Depending on size and grade
- Thickness: ± 0,020 to < 0,008 mm
- Width: ± 0,100 to < 0,030 mm
For particularly high-precision tolerances, we check to ensure that the requirements are technically and economically feasible.
Edge shapes
- Mill edge
- Rolled edges
- Rounded edges
- Machined rounded edges

Weight per unit of 1 – 1000 kg
Production of flat wires made of chromium-nickel grades similar to EN 10270-3
Our core competencies include
- Transformation of round wires into flat wires and profiles by drawing and rolling
- Annealing and tempering
- Precision coiling
We design our flat wires to meet the individual requirements of our customers.
To understand your needs, we need to know your requirements.
Our performance profile in the area of flat wires made of chromium-nickel steels can best be described as follows:
Grades
- Austenitic stainless steels as materials for traditional hardening by cold rolling. For example 1.4310 (AISI 301 or 302), 1.4301, 1.4370, 1.4401 and many similar grades. For special requirements, we offer limited compositions, e.g. with a defined molybdenum content for particularly high strength with good bending properties. Or as semi-austenitic grades, for example the precipitation hardening material 1.4568, for which tempering is used to increase strength after part production by our customers.
- Martensitic stainless steels. These steels can be hardened by tempering after rolling. For example for grades as per 1.4006 (AISI 410), 1.4021 or 1.4028 (AISI 420), 1.4568 etc.
- Ferritic stainless steels
For example as 1.4016 (AISI 430) - Mixed grades. For example as austenitic-ferritic grade 1.4462 (duplex)
- Grades for special requirements such as heat resistance or high conductivity
- Special materials on customer request
